Continuing the format of “Easy 8“, here are six easy add-a-note pieces for beginner recorder students. The selections start with the notes BAG, add one note in each selection, and end with notes D to D1. Synthesizer accompaniments present a variety of styles, rhythms, and moods. Two performance options: S, SS. Includes one eight page score and CD accompaniment.

Songs:

  1. For You and Me (B, A, G)
  2. Smooth Sailing (B, A, G, E)
  3. Big Sky (B, A, G, E, D)
  4. The Magic Island (B, A, G, E, D, C)
  5. Song For Derek (B, A, G, E, D, C, D1)
  6. What’s That? (B, A, G, E, D, C, D1, F#)

Six For Two continues the format of Easy 8, but is scored for Soprano I and (optional Soprano) II. The music offers the teacher an option to have the students perform in unison…The stylistic variety makes this suite interesting. The first piece incorporates only three notes. Each succeeding piece adds another note until eight notes have been used. The rhythmic patterns go no farther in difficulty than dotted quarter notes and eighth notes. Students will really enjoy the final selection, “What’s That?” with its avant-garde sound effects.”      American Recorder
